What makes us different
Extra time as a reward, not just a limit to run out of
Most parental controls only take time away. Gadget Minder also lets you hand it back:
homework done early or a good week at school, and you grant extra minutes for a specific
app straight from your phone. It reaches the child's device in seconds, leaves tomorrow's
normal limit untouched, and can be cancelled just as fast.

Common questions
What is Gadget Minder?
Gadget Minder is a parental control app for Android. A parent installs the parent app
on their own phone and pairs it with their child's device using a one-time code. From
then on the parent can block apps, set daily time limits, schedule allowed hours, and
filter websites remotely.
Can I give my child extra screen time as a reward?
Yes, and it is one of the things that sets Gadget Minder apart. From the parent app you
can grant extra minutes to a specific app immediately — for homework finished early, or
chores done — and it takes effect on the child's device within seconds. The extension
does not change that app's normal daily limit, so the usual rules return the next day,
and you can cancel it at any time.
Which devices does it work on?
Both apps run on Android 9.0 or later. The child device needs the Gadget Minder Kid
app; the parent uses the Gadget Minder app on their own phone or tablet. There is no
iPhone version.
Can my child bypass it?
Gadget Minder is built to resist the common workarounds: settings that would disable
it are protected by a parent PIN, uninstalling requires that PIN, and monitoring
restarts itself if the system stops it. No parental control on Android is impossible
to defeat, but casual attempts — force-stopping the app, clearing data, or opening
Settings to remove it — are blocked.
Does it read my child's messages or track their location?
No. Gadget Minder does not collect messages, call logs, photos, contacts, keystrokes,
microphone audio or location. Website rules are applied on the device itself, and
browsing history is never sent to our servers. What is collected is limited to what
enforcing limits requires: which apps are installed and how long each is used.
Can I block websites as well as apps?
Yes. Website rules apply across every browser on the device rather than one at a time,
using an on-device filter. You can run a block list, where everything is allowed except
the sites you name, or an allow list, where everything is blocked except the sites you
approve.
